Couples Activity | Planning For Valentine’s Day

It’s fun to plan activities together! Let’s plan a fun activity for Valentine’s Day. You may want to surprise your Valentine, and that’s great, but planning an activity together is not only exciting but has the added benefit of learning more about your partner’s likes and preferences. It also keeps you talking, which is so important in a happy relationship, a happy marriage

Valentines DayGifts are fun too. Tried-and-true favorites like flowers, cards, and chocolate are always great. But why not add a handwritten love letter to your card? What a treat that would be!

And Singles.

Go out and buy a card for the Valentine of your dreams. This can help you start to develop a list of what you want in a partner.  Creating that list will help you change your thinking from I don’t have a loving relationship—a negative use of the law of attraction—to I’m giving this beautiful Valentine’s Day card to my perfect partner—a positive use of the law of attraction.

For Couples,

plan an activity around your gift-giving. Now that’s really special. Plan it together. Ask your partner what they’d like to do, or suggest an idea. You might say, “Hey Honey, let’s do something fun for Valentine’s Day. How about we go for a long walk in the afternoon?”

A walk around the block, a walk through the park, a walk up the beach—all of these can increase your appetite before your romantic dinner, and they’re fun, too! Be sure to hold hands. Really enjoy each other’s company.

You could plan to go to a movie, or go dancing, see a play, or take a yoga class together? Consider a fun activity you could do together that’s outside the box, something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet… Maybe it’s going out to a new restaurant, or a theater that just opened. If something new doesn’t appeal to you, go to your favorite restaurant down the street. The important thing is to do something together.

If you’re going out to eat, be sure to make reservations early so you know you’ll get a table. It’s okay to ask for special seating, too! Ask for a place away from the kitchen, or away from the bar, or in the bar if you prefer. Maybe you’d like to sit outside at a table with a view—whatever the two of you like. If the restaurant can’t or won’t accommodate you, consider a different restaurant.

Home cooking favorite meals together can be yummy, economical, and fun, too. You can choose exactly when and where to enjoy your meal. You could go outside on the porch or sit on the patio or walk out to your gazebo. Eat somewhere other than your usual places—maybe at a side table with candles and flowers with your newly opened Valentine’s cards to decorate. If you have a fireplace, pull up two comfy chairs in front of it, or lay out a blanket for an indoor picnic.

Couple’s Activity

If you like the idea of a Couple’s Activity on Valentine’s Day and you choose to eat at home, talk about how you can put your special night together so that each of you has a part in creating it. That’s what makes it a Couple’s Activity.

Walks together, a movie, an outing, or dinner at a new restaurant is certainly a Couple’s Activity, but let’s back up a little bit. When you purchased your Valentine’s gift for your partner, how did you feel? Were you present with your loving feelings as you thought about what to buy? When you looked at all those greeting cards and you found the one that felt just right, did your eyes well up? Did your face smile? Did your heart expand? And when you were picking out flowers or putting together a bouquet from the yard, how did you feel?

Enjoy these moments. Live in this present. Live in the beauty of being engaged in an act of love. Enjoy these feelings. That is your gift. Be willing to be vulnerable. Let your partner see and feel how much you love them. That’s when you are strongest because you are living from your heart and not from your head.

When you are finally exchanging your gifts, feel the giving and receiving of love that comes from your heart. Look at the flowers. Really look. Tell your Valentine how you selected them. Why they spoke to you as the perfect flowers for your partner. Read your cards out loud and feel the words that your are hearing. Look into each other’s eyes like it’s the first time, because guess what? It is the first time in this moment.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
