Who Is More Blessed? The Small Act Which United The Whole Room…

A friend of ours, Nova Charle, is a very talented musician, singer, theater actor and music teacher. She is loved by all who know her, especially her wonderful husband Don and children and grandchildren, and of course a pet or two. One of the favorites, a dog named Izzy.

One of the many gifts of love that Nova gives is her time. She volunteers at senior centers to play piano and sing. Seniors especially love that.

Recently Nova was at a senior center volunteering to play and sing when another giving soul came to share his time with the seniors. He brought two young children with him. That is all great and wonderful because seniors love children. But we all know what can happen when very young children begin to act their age.

Maybe Nova was a little tired and cranky, as the children began to scream she wondered why the man had brought his whole family, knowing how disruptive they could be…  and anyone who knows Nova would know how much she loves kids!

At this point Nova rolled her eyes and began feeling some irritation creep in at her edges. Like I said, “Nova has young grandchildren and knows how disruptive these little angels can be”. The question comes back to her mind. Why did this father bring these young children to the senior center? The doubt and irritation is really starting to rear its ugly head now.

Just then the father asks the little boy if he would like to sing his song.

The young boy, about four years old becomes a conduit of love when he begins (with no accompaniment) to sing his song……..

” JESUS LOVES ME, THIS I KNOW “………..

Well, as this little boy begins to display his angel wings, all of the seniors are singing along with him.

In Nova’s words; ”I broke, I couldn’t keep in the tears. Here I was being a big jerk with my stupid thoughts and then I got smacked with humility and humbleness. About half the people in the room are part of the ”Memory Facility” there. They don’t even know their name or where they are most of the time. But when this precious child started to sing, they ALL knew the words. With huge smiles on their faces, they sang every word, on pitch with everyone else, in perfect unison. One four-year-old child and people in their 80’s and 90’s singing the SAME SONG!! My heart just about exploded. They all share the same thing. The love of God and the magic power of music”.

The participants were giving it their all while the witnesses were reaching for tissues. The emotion of love brought on and inspired (in-spirit) by the innocence of this young child was multiplied and lifted up by the hearts and voices of the seniors.

Songs from the heart, songs of love,  and songs of praise are always deposited in the endless collection of love to be redistributed by the creator of love.

The fallout of love like this is immeasurable.

So here’s a question…Who is More Blessed?

Is it me, that I read Nova’s account of these events on Facebook? Is it Nova, as a first-hand witness whose irritation is replaced with tender love? Is it the father of the child? The seniors? The child? The others that read Nova’s face book? The others that will read this blog? Or is it the spirit of the Man to which the voices of love were lifted up to?
