Couple’s Activity: Fall Festivals

Let’s get going with the fall activities! Fall eases us into the holiday season – let’s have fun and keep smiles on our faces all the way through the holiday season by starting it off with a fall festival and/or pumpkin patch…

This Week's ActivityThis couple’s activity may involve a lot of walking so make sure you come prepared! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, dress for the weather and don’t forget your camera! And (perhaps the most important), bring your playful spirit, like a child. Yep, this is the time to have fun like a child – remember? That’s ok if you don’t, let’s start the season with the idea of looking for fun.

Perhaps you could take a hay ride, or pick out the perfect pumpkin for carving. Admiring the colors of fall, walking through corn mazes and “oohing” and “aahing” over the different scarecrows.

Look up online for “fall festival” or “pumpkin patch” – they are all over the place so there’s bound to be something near you.

Here is a tip: if you plan to carve pumpkins, be sure to get some with different shapes – just like us they are all different and all are worthy.

Be on the lookout for youngsters who might be experiencing a pumpkin patch for the first time. Watch them and copy them in their excitement. We can learn a lot by watching a child who has no inhibitions and is just having fun.

Singles: don’t let the “Couple’s Activity” title stop you! Get out there. Meet someone who appreciates the beauty of fall and the fun of a fall festival or pumpkin patch.  Many fall festivals have great music – just think, you get to go through your closet and get your seasonal clothes out, you know, the fun looking ones that look like fall, then find the dance floor and ask someone to dance with you. If that’s too much, ask someone their favorite way to carve a pumpkin.

Remember, anyone at one of these festivals has an appreciation for fun, beauty and getting out – so grab your hat, put on your smile and get out there!

Let’s “do” the holidays and not let the holidays “do us”!

Have you managed to get out and enjoy some fall activities? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below…
