Who Is More Blessed: Happy Holidays (What Does That Mean?)

Here we are at Christmas.

Have you considered what Christmas means? I’m sure you have placed a lot of meaning on the Christmas Holiday or the Christmas time of year or the Christmas celebration or the Holiday season or ”Happy Holidays” (for people that don’t know why there is a celebration this time of year). For example, trees brought into the house and decorated, lights on the outside of the house, buying gifts, giving gifts, receiving gifts, opening gifts, Christmas parties, a cup of cheer, eating too much, spending too much, Santa etc.

Let’s look at the definition of Christmas…

Christmas definition (old English): Cristesmaesse; meaning, “Christ’s Mass”.

Christ definition ”anointed one”  – to symbolize divine influence.

Mass definition a feast day in honor of a specific person

Christ’s Mass definition a feast day honoring Christ

Christ is not the last name of Jesus. Remember Christ means ”anointed one”. Christmas is honoring Jesus, the Christ. At this time we are honoring Jesus the Christ on his date of birth.

There is some speculation of the exact day of his birth but when you’re over 2000 years old I think the actual date is not as important as it is to celebrate the birth of one of our greatest teachers. Jesus the Christ offers us gifts of (and not limited to) love, forgiveness, peace, truth, guidance, life, joy, etc. etc. (that means and lots more!). All of these gifts are free and available to everyone. How do you know? Because the Son shines on everyone.

Wow, how about that? Now that is worth celebrating.

So make Merry (definition cheerful) – hey that fits, ” Merry Christmas”. Have fun, decorate, celebrate. Give gifts and receive gifts, after all it is a birthday party, and enjoy the feeling of giving and receiving.

Children and gifts are mostly thought of at this time of year, but let’s not forget about the act of giving and receiving love in regards to romantic relationships. Give and receive hugs, time, hold hands, looking into your lover’s eyes, romance, intimacy. Remember when you give the gift of love to your partner the gift is for the relationship, both of you benefit. The circle of relationship stays strong and connected by giving and receiving love. For some reason we say giving before receiving, however knowing how to receive the gift of love is very important.

This is important to singles also because you always have a relationship with life, and the anointed one who gives us love. Open up your heart to receive.

Children do it very well  – sometimes we adults can grow out of the ability to receive love, we actually block it sometimes. Open your heart and let the gift of love your partner gives you permeate your entire being. See and notice the love in your partner (namaste), see and notice the love in yourself. That love has a source. We already learned one of the many gifts Jesus the Christ gives us is love. As a result of that, love is always in us.

So, if we are honoring (mass) the anointed one (Christ) on Christmas and Christ is the giver of love, who is more blessed? Jesus the Christ or us?

Merry Christmas!
(cheerfully honor Jesus the anointed one)
